Elderly Woman from Mountain Home Dies a Week After Baxter County Crash

Last week, the police near Mountain Home, Arkansas received a call about a two-car crash. The accident happened at the intersection of State Highway-201 and US Highway 62/412 Bypass. As with most other accidents, this one was caused by negligence.

70-year old Bonnie Brown of Mountain Home was traveling on the highway. It was about 1:55 pm on May 3, 2020. At the same time, 37-year old Bailey Eugene O’Brien was approaching the intersection. O’Brien decided to run the red light at the intersection. He ended up crashing into Brown’s car at a high rate of speed.

At the time of the crash, Brown was stopped at the intersection. She had no way to avoid the collision. She was like a sitting duck as O’Brien’s car plowed into her.

Brown was seriously injured in the crash and was taken to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She had been in the hospital for a full week when things took a turn for the worse. The victim’s husband, Dan Brown, was notified that, after putting up a week-long fight, his wife had passed away from her injuries.

Bonnie and Dan Brown had founded a company in Mountain Home called Billing Specialist, Inc. Even though they were both in their 70s, they were still heavily involved in the company.

The investigation is actually still ongoing. The police know that O’Brien ran the red light. There doesn’t seem to be any disputing that. Yet they haven’t filed any criminal charges as of yet. We imagine this is inevitable. The family of the victim is waiting for the outcome of the investigation as they may have a potential claim for wrongful death.
